“The Future of the world with Constant Disruptive and Emerging Technologies”💻📱

It was with great pleasure that members of Rotary Club of Montebello welcomed Dr Mukund Krishna Oolun for a wonderful presentation in the field of Technology on Wednesday 11th October Club Meeting.

 

With the advent of the Internet in the 1980s and the advances in communication over the years, the world has truly become a global village with no borders and barriers. The information superhighways have drastically transformed our lives and we have access to anything and everything on our mobile phones, from social media, banking, travelling etc. The Internet of Things (IOT) is a network of physical devices, vehicles, appliances, and other physical objects that are embedded with sensors, software and network connectivity that allows them to collect and share data. These are new trends already shaping our lives.

 

The latest disruption is open AI such as ChatGPT launched in 2022. It is an AI-powered language model capable of generating human-like text based on context and past conversations. The language model can respond to questions and compose various content, including articles, social media posts, essays, codes and emails. People are scared that such tools will replace human beings in their day-to-day tasks. However, this is not the case. Human being can think critically and still have the control over the machine which will at the end of the day make people become more productive.

 

This insightful talk triggered each member to think deeply about the pace at which technology is evolving and how much changes are happening around the world at a staggering pace. Such a topic is vast, and members enjoyed the question-and-answer session.
