Visit to Cottolengo Convent in Whitefield on Monday 29th Jan 2024
A very fruitful journey for Pdt Leena who made her way to visit the Cottolengo Convent. Cottolengo started in the year 1989 and it serves as a nurturing ground and safe haven for hundreds of specially abled children, who are cared for by the Sisters.
The sisters provide care for severely mentally disabled girls and multipurpose rehabilitation service is administered along with the provision of occupational activity. The teams from Montebello and Nepal interacted with the inmates and went around the exhibition that showcased their talents. RC Montebello has sponsored a washing machine and a sewing machine to Cottolengo Convent to assist in their vocational drive of making cloth bags from discarded clothes/bedsheets etc.
A small action but making a huge difference in the life of the children where they feel the love and care during our visit. Very nice exchange with the girls who feel proud to try to explain the different items they have made and stitched. The nicest part is the moment they described how they made pickles and cut the fruits. Some biscuits and juice were distributed to the children during the visit.
It was indeed a humbling experience to get a chance to serve these children of God. We in RC Montebello are extremely thankful to our Sister Club for this opportunity and a huge shout out to IPP Prasanna Kumari and Director Service Project Rtn Sharmistha for facilitating the same.
